Cheryl Brooks

Artist and printmaker working in Dorset.

I am an artist and printmaker working from my home studio in Boscombe, Dorset. I make woodcut relief prints because I enjoy the process and craft of printmaking and using wood allows me to draw directly onto the plate before cutting to give an immediacy to the image.

I create work inspired by the ever-changing natural world that I encounter everyday when walking my dog or when exploring the countryside further afield. I especially love trees, the way they shape the landscape as they filter the sunlight and change with the seasons.

As well as prints, I also produce greetings cards from small pen and wash drawings and handmade sketchbooks and notebooks to repurpose old prints and paper.
